I'm just a lady with an imagination of something more. Born and raised on the East Coast of FL, then lived in Nashville, TN for four years (and loved it!) and now reside in Memphis. I am working towards somewhere I can put my toes in the sand (again) or a place I can stare at beautiful snow topped mountains... For now I really enjoy downtown living and my fantastic career working for the worlds largest womens healthcare company. Remember every day is a blessing from God and always try to enjoy it the best you can. Pray. Believe. Receive.

In celebration of my Grandmother living out 95 wonderful years!

I’m naturally a bit of a writer and it always helps me express my feelings best, so I figured I’d share a little bit about her so that you know what an amazing woman she was to me if you care to read further…

My grandmother, Mary but known as “Mommom” to me, was one of my biggest mentors in life.  I spent lots of time growing up near her side as her and my grandfather owned their own business, the Caribbean Apartments, on the same island that my family’s house was on in FL.  Mommom had many seasonal guests that would come down in the winter, and I remember she would have me sing any songs I learned in Sunday School for them as a little girl.  The building was shaped like a “U” which looked out to the inlet of the Ocean so that all of her guests had a great view.  There was a sidewalk that wrapped around the courtyard that I would roller skate on daily, which would lead me to a day where I would fall and forever have a small but memorable scar on my right knee cap.  Bawling my eyes out, my grandmother was there to fix the wound.  There was a shuffle board court at the end of the courtyard where my brother and I would play and a dock where we would fish with my grandfather.  My grandmother had a very close friend, who I called Aunt Katherine, and she would stop over in the afternoons and we would have “tea time”.  My grandmother was the most beautiful woman inside and out.  Her guests never felt like “hotel guests” but instead “her personal guests” which lead to many years of friendship.

Before Mommom moved to FL, she traveled a lot in between the US working for Merck Medical Company.  Born in New Jersey, her main blood line was Czech and Hungarian and she was the second to oldest out of 9 children.  She met my grandfather in California, married, had two children (Aunt Marianne and my Father) and then moved to FL.  She was the most God-fearing and obeying woman that I have ever met, always filled with kindness and tenderness for all of those around her.  She was also the hardest working woman, never complaining but rather just smiling while she got the job done.  Mommom was always teaching me proper etiquette and how to be a strong but kind, respected and independent woman.  I’m glad that I was able to know her from such a young age and that my family was so close.  I could not be more grateful for that time that I was able to spend with her learning from her and laughing with her.  Any conversation she ended with me, always finished with a “God bless you always, I love you”.  In the last few visits we shared together, her mind wasn’t as sharp as it once was and instead of her reciting those words, I said them to her, “God bless you Mommom, I love you.”  God certainly did bless me when he made her my grandmother…and although it is sad for us here on earth, I know she is in a better place with our Father and has a new body and mind so that she can run, jump and play again like a young teenager.  I am forever grateful for her time spent on earth.

Thank you for allowing me to share some of my memories with you…

This first picture is Mommom in her younger years followed by the Sunset my Dad took last night as her last day on earth was ending.  In my fathers words: “I would like to think it was the foreshadow of the Lord’s coming glory as He came to take Mom home.”

Funeral arrangements are being finalized but at this time:

Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Haisley Funeral Home; Graveside Service at Hillcrest in Fort Pierce, FL

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers for my family.
